Put Stuff Here
Bad Day

So.. Sorry to break some of the current twitter drama, and I haven’t been on tumblr in a while. Just a little spot of real life for you.
My wife’s cousin went in to the hospital today to find out the sex of her first child. I’m sure she was a little nervous.. “what should we name him or her” or maybe “I hope we have a little girl”

Not today…

They plug in the ol’ monitor and start the scan. “here’s the arm, here’s the head, here’s the heart… Oh’ my.. There’s no heartbeat” the lab tech cheerfully exclaims…

No name for this child today.. Only a second semester child that died in the womb. Today she gets to induce labor and plan a funeral for a child without a heartbeat.

My eyes are watering as I write this. My heart goes out to her. I can’t imagine the pain and I suppose I never will. To any woman who has lost a child this way and to any parent that has buried a child, you’ll always have my upmost sympathy….

That is what stings

Flat Cake

I’m guilty of this too, so don’t take it as preaching, look at it s shared information.  Being in the restaurant business, I’ve spent many years working with young adults.  I have been privy to many things that have effected their lives.  Fact… It’s difficult being a young adult. One of the most common mistakes I see is when life hands you a big ol’ shit sandwich it seems to be a gut reaction to move… Start fresh, go to a new town to re-boot your life so to speak. There couldn’t be anything further from the truth. Imagine baking a cake, now imagine baking that said cake without eggs. Your result is a “flat cake”. If you bake the cake in this fashion in Wyoming and then move to Florida and start baking cakes without eggs, your result will be the same there as well.  The only difference is you spent a lot of money to move and now ended with with a flat cake and even less money. What I’m trying to convey is your life will be a collection of problems and how you choose to deal with these problems will inevitably strengthen your character as a person.  The cake analogy is to be tied with your behavior.  Your life is a collection of events, like ingredients, that when mixed together become the outcome of your situation.  Now granted, many have other elements that make their specific outcome a little or even a lot more difficult to obtain, but I’ve never seen the determined fail at their lives. They usually just work harder. I know this sounds cheesy, but wherever you are, that’s where you are. The things that effect you are based on a string of decisions that you’ve chosen. Spend a little time analyzing what you wish in your life. Spend time wisely choosing the ingredients of your life. Take it from an ex chef, what you choose to mix your life with will determine your outcome.

I was a chef, pretty successful at it I might add, but there’s something to be said about a cheeseburger & fries sided with an ice cold beer at a bowling alley!
